History
In 1927, James Wilshire, the man who founded United California Bank, was approached by Hugh S. Johnston, a noted California Numismatist with a request for his collaboration. Johnston, who had a collection of coins, wanted Wilshire to help authenticate them. Mr. Wilshire agreed and on February 18, 1927, the United California Bank opened for business, with Wilshire as President.
